“Khnong Phsa” – An Attractive Mountain Forest Tourism Area on the Border of Kampong Speu

Located along the border between Kampong Speu and Koh Kong provinces, Khnong Phsa is a vast mountainous forest area featuring breathtaking scenery hidden deep within the wilderness. According to Mr. Sao Saroun, Director of the Kampong Speu Provincial Department of Tourism, Khnong Phsa strongly attracts visitors because of its outstanding natural beauty.

Khnong Phsa is an adventure-style ecotourism destination, where visitors must travel on foot. The area is rich in dense forests, high mountain ranges, deep valleys, and lush green pine fields. “What makes this area especially attractive is its unspoiled nature—numerous mountain ranges, thick forests, and in particular, the stunning sunsets that can be admired from the site,” he said.

Traveling to Khnong Phsa is relatively convenient, and combined with its beautiful landscapes, it has drawn many tourists to visit, making it a destination with strong potential for nature-based tourism. In the early morning, visitors can enjoy watching the sunrise amid cool, refreshing air, while in the evening they can admire the sunset from the mountain ridge.

Tourism activities in Khnong Phsa have helped improve the livelihoods of local residents. Mr. Sao Saroun explained: “When local people guide tourists to Khnong Phsa, they earn income from guiding. As a result, they stop cutting down trees and instead turn to protecting and loving the forest.”

To reach Khnong Phsa, tourists should travel along National Road No. 4 toward Kampong Speu provincial town. After crossing the Kampong Speu bridge, continue for about 1 kilometer, then turn right for another 1 kilometer until you see a left turn with a sign pointing toward Oral. Enter the Oral checkpoint and continue for approximately 50 kilometers to reach the Oral roundabout. From there, proceed straight along a dirt road for about 35 kilometers, crossing Teuk Phos, until reaching Rolak Kang Cheung village, the gateway village to Khnong Phsa Mountain.
